You can keep your SIM and reuse it on your next trip.

Be aware that a €0.90 account fee is deducted from your available credit if the SIM is not used for 20 days.

So, if you were returning to France in 6 months, you would be charged €5.40 if the SIM is not used. To avoid this, you would simply send a text (to someone) every few weeks.

If you have no credit left for the fee, you will receive a warning text then be disconnected 30 days later.

However (and this is something we’ve asked LFM to improve), if you’ve returned home and are using your normal SIM and the LFM SIM is in a drawer somewhere, how will you know your SIM has expired!

So if you are returning to France, check your balance by inserting your SIM and text BAL to 22213. If you get an error message, your SIM has probably expired.

Similarly, if you try to top up and get an error message like "You need to use the SIM for the first time before being able to use the [top up] service" your SIM has probably expired.

If your SIM has expired, you’ll need a new SIM. Please check your SIM at least 3 weeks before returning, so we can get you a new SIM in time.

This could be a hassle for you, so here’s what we recommend:

  • If you only have a few EU credit remaining, let the SIM expire and get a new one.
  • If you have a decent amount of credit (€20 or so), either accept the fee or just send a text from the SIM every few weeks to avoid the fee.
