All LFM SIMs come pre-activated/registered, but it's always a good idea to confirm the SIM works before you go.

We personally like to make sure all our "stuff" is working before we go overseas, and you're probably the same. :)

You can test that your LFM SIM is working before you go, and ensure your APN can be changed. If you can't change/access your APN, you won't be able to use the LFM data network, so make sure you sort this out with your telco or customer support for your phone, before you go.

Remember, the APN is only for data, so you can test that the SIM is ready to go, without changing your APN.

There are two parts to this.

Testing the SIM

To test your SIM and reassure yourself that it is good to go when you land, follow these steps.

1. Turn data OFF (this is important). If you don't turn data off, your may use some of your balance as apps in the background use data.

2. Put the LFM SIM in.

3. You should automatically receive a welcome text from LFM, but Your Mileage May Vary depending what country you're in. If you don't, simply send a text to 22213 with "BAL" (no talking marks). You'll then receive a notification from LFM with your balance.

4. Remove the SIM as you're good to go.

APN

On iPhones, Settings->Mobile (Cellular) -> Mobile (Cellular) Data Network.

On Android/other, find your APN settings.

Confirm you can change the settings to the below.  Ensure you record your current telco settings before changing.

On iPhones you can also apply a mobileconfig file, from here.

  • APN name: netgprs.com
  • Login: tsl
  • Password: tsl
  • Authentication: PAP, CHAP or none

Revert your settings to your home settings

You can do this manually, or by resetting your network settings and/or switching your phone off/on.
